Ad On

(Have you ever read an advertisement for a ministry, speaker or whatever, and you find yourself amazed that they can give their resume therein?)

The Christian world, saturated with
Ads about themself.
Healer, miracles, great teachers.
You’d think God needed help.

Apostle Paul referred to self
As a prisoner or slave.
That seems to be a grander style,
For how we should behave.

While I believe in miracles
And know His gifts will stand,
I dare not take the credit for
Those given by His hand.

So when we list our name and such,
In humble, grateful way,
Let’s say, our God is the one
Who will be meeting you today.

Beyond the Mile Markers

Upon life’s road there are mile markers, where we can
Become stranded for a while.
These times, we lose our bearings, trying to get going in our
Style.

It’s kind of like 45 years ago, when as a nation we did weep
For the sudden shock — a president killed. Would our
Innocence truly keep ?

Two such markers stopped us dead in the tracks of life as
We then knew,
And led us here to grieve and grow — to rejoin the journey,
Too.

These two mile markers were the deaths of our sweet
Mother and dear dad.
Life marched on in its own parade, with a hurt that kept us
Sad.

These two mile markers are not the end of the path that we
Each must trod,
But become faith spots to regain our trust as we’re
Marching forth to God.

The Cream is in the Middle

Between the eldest, youngest breed,
The middle is the cream.
When growing up the obvious
Of this, they would not dream.

Reminds me of the cookie kind,
An Oreo, great taste.
Each child opens wide both its sides
So no cream center wastes.

At one time middle child themself
Was youngest, so to speak.
Then when the younger came along,
They thought they reached their peak.

The middle is the creamy stuff;
The best part for a kid.
Don’t treat a middle child as though
They do not fit right in.

The Blood Cried Out

Abel’s blood cried out in anguish, from the wounds of his own death.
That message reached to heaven, of its height and length and breadth.

This blood did shriek in terror and descended on the ground.
On the soil God used to make man a new urgency was found.

Two millennia and some years later, blood did flow as if a moan.
In response to that first bloodshed marked Golgotha’s painful groan.

First Gethsemane’s blood in tear form, spilled its love in agony,
then the cry that echoed mercy showed us what we each could be.

From the cry of Abel’s murder to the mercy shed for me,
finds the blood returning homeward to God’s land eternally.

Two Gardens

When sin entered the picture, they were in God’s garden of delight.
Upon that great infraction, came their exit unto night.

God’s angel guards crossed swords to watch o’er the garden entrance door,
and set the stage for a second time when another garden was in store.

The second garden was Gethsemane – the olive press in phrase.
Our Lord’s life was squeezed in time, yet to His Father he gave the praise.

No one wanted to enter these premises, for drops of blood were Jesus’ tears.
He faced this evening all alone, to the tune of Satan’s cheers.

The angels ministered unto Him, because He was not the sin He bore.
He was preparing a grand opening for the garden’s eternal door.

To go from garden to garden, in a place where flowers bloom
was our Lord, who paid the entrance fee and uncrossed the swords at the garden tomb.

Golden Fingers

Golden fingers …. She’s the one, the one with the golden
Touch…..We love her so much.
Such quick golden fingers…. Beckoning us to come into
Her musical score…. Where we want more.

It’s of note, fifty great years we say.
There’s no music Mary Ann cannot play,
For the keys see her hands and get ready to go…
They float along and flow these….

Golden fingers …. Mary Ann, we’re grateful it is your niche,
With perfect pitch.

It’s of note, fifty great years we say.
There’s no music Mary Ann cannot play,
For the keys see her hands and get ready to go…
They float along and flow these…..

Golden fingers… Mary Ann, we’re grateful it is your niche,
With perfect pitch.

These years are gold; you’re not that old.
Your gift God holds; these years are gold.
Your gift God holds; these years are gold.

God’s Blueprint for Marriage

God’s blueprint for marriage was drawn within His heart.
It was meant to form a union, from which God would not depart.

First sketched in the book of Genesis, recounting our Lord’s design,
God relayed His plan for marriage in a reflecting pool divine.

In real time came its fullness, of a Bridegroom for the Bride.
The Bridegroom left His home on high, so with her He would abide.

The Bridegroom — Jesus, laid His life down in Calvary’s door frame,
lifting the bride o’er the eternal threshold and gave her His own name.

The Bible is the invitation, where the Spirit and the Bride say “come”.
A wedding is the announcement, proclaiming the two as one.

A marriage in God’s blueprint should serve to show God’s love;
that God designated Himself to be included from above.

On their first night together, they celebrate the union of husband and wife,
echoing the Creator’s phrase of choice: ‘It was good” to start our life.

That’s when the marriage gift God created is unwrapped in wedded bliss.
It’s the unseen gift He left behind, so the connection is not missed.

The husband should lay His life down and cherish the one God gave.
The wife responds in reverence, gladly serving him every day.

Marriage, after all, is not a twosome, but a toughened cord of three,
with the thread of our own Master interwoven carefully.

Marriage should mirror God’s true nature and His love for fallen man.
The blueprint comes alive each day when we walk in God’s blessed plan.

Just Love Them

“Just love them” was the mandate as you set your gaze to come.
“Just love them” don’t seek to change them, and you’ll see what they’ll become.
“Just love them” was the spirit for the tone which you did set.
“Just love them” is not a phase of life, but a ministry well spent.

For God’s love is the foundation of the grace Calvary wrought,
and you balanced truth with gentleness of the kind salvation bought.
And loving means transparence of your heart through veils of clay.
In this solemn moment, we thank you here today.

“Just love them” was told to Peter, so to Jesus’ lambs He did tend.
The Great Shepherd drew His man forward to help each sheep to mend.
“Just love them” is not a catch phrase, but the heart of God in time.
“Just love them” is the answer to the questions you did find.

When you love, God shows His presence and reveals what mortals see.
There’s a glow that’s captured in the center of the Sovereign’s mystery.
The crescendo of your love here is the anthem your life did bring,
And continues to point us upward, where heaven’s praises ring.

“Just love them” was God’s instrument, as you worked the Potter’s wheel.
“Just love them” found its liberty as you showed the grace to yield.
“Just love them” was the guidance as your mind did wield His Word.
“Just love them” was God’s focus and at Living Springs was gladly heard.

The love you gave was first bestowed upon your weathered brow.
“Just love them” came from God’s own throne. I hope you feel it now.
You loved us through your counsel and from your teachings we have learned.
On behalf of this great family, we love you in return.

Little One Lullabye

To the tune of: Lullaby and Goodnight

Lullabies come at night, though you’re in God’s grand day time.
You are missed with a kiss from earth’s family time line.

Close your eyes for the prize, since the Savior adores you.
You’re His love up above, where God’s promises are true.

Open eyes – God’s surprise! You’re grown fully in His graces.
No despair ‘ere is there. You’re a gem in both places.

Lullabies come at night, you’re tucked into our hearts here.
You’re at rest in God’s best, held within His arms so near.

Love was close when Christ arose and He welcomed her in light.
Be at peace with His release in God’s Lullabye at Night.

Heaven’s Beam

I saw this beam one time before. It drew my mother home.
It was a nightlight in the dark, so she’d no longer roam.

It was the ray of heaven piercing this earth’s crusty shell.
I think this ray speaks from God’s throne, of God’s story to tell.

At first the beam appears to look like a megaphone calling out,
and then it breaks its silence as it casts away all doubt.

This beam not only sheds its rays upon a darkened place,
but more importantly reveals the sight of Jesus’ lovely face.

For anyone around the beam, its light source tells us more:
eternal life in Jesus Christ leads us to heaven’s shore.
