Easter by the Letter

Teaching Topics:

The Celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus.

E = Emptiness – At the creation of the world, the earth was void and empty of God’s fullness. A cataclysmic event rendered it formless, but God brought order through light. This was the first day – Sunday. God finalized His creation through redemption at the dawn of resurrection.

A = At – There is always a location where the ordinary meets the extraordinary. Here death meets life and loses. Jesus did take us to the cross; we were in His heart.

S = Savior’s – We first saw life when God breathed into Adam the breath of life. Notice it was not ‘many’ breaths. It was the breath of one into one. At the cross, Jesus died from suffocation – breath taken away. He came down to literally lift us up and to restore the breath of heaven to us, one on one – one by one.

T = Tomb – The tomb became a womb, the place of new life. Jesus folded the four corners of the earth, much as He did the cloths He left behind, with order and precision. When the resurrected Christ is in control, emptiness sets the place for God to do miracles, which is what creation was.

E = Evidenced – Evidence in a broad sense is that which is used to determine the truth. Here, resurrection is the only time when nothing meant something and gave us everything. Remember, Jesus was in the grave on Sabbath, the 7th day – the very day he created for His own rest. He did that so we could find rest in Him.

R = Resurrection – Resurrection returns us to creation’s first day. This light lit the way to walk in the glow of Christ’s victory. It’s a reminder that Christ is The Light of the world and The Finisher of God’s creation. Sin pierced our Savior and resurrection pierced the sky of unlimited victory in Him!
